Pilates activates multiple groups of deep core muscles of the entire spine & trunk:

  • transversus abdominus
  • multifidii
  • respiratory diaphragm
  • pelvic floor
  • quadratus lumborum
  • psoas
  • longus colli
  • serratus anterior
  • rotatores

These deep stabilizer muscles are typically weak in the general population and can lead to degenerative disc disease, bulging or herniated discs, osteoarthritis, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, radiculopathy (referred nerve pain) and myelopathy (loss of muscle strength).

What makes Veronica’s Pilates instruction starkly different from all others?

Although she is “classically trained,” Veronica has intuitively adapted her Pilates instruction under the guidelines of Dr. Ginger Garner’s Medical Therapeutic Yoga and has omitted and modified specific Pilates & Yoga exercises that research has shown to increase risk of injury to the joints.

The average consumer of Pilates (and yoga) has some kind of musculoskeletal issue that could be worsened if not taught under the supervision of an experienced orthopedic physical therapist.

Prevention of injury is more important than rehabilitation for an existing injury!

Wellness Evaluation (90 minutes) $275

Includes thoroughly reviewing past medical history, history of present illness, any and all secondary issues, Functional Movement Assessment, stability, gait, balance, palpation, strength, and range of motion assessment, orthopedic and neurologic special tests as indicated, goal setting, plan, and initial home program. Wear comfortable clothing and layers.

Follow Up Private Pilates Training Sessions (55 minutes) $185

Includes, but not limited to: Pilates Mat/Reformer/Tower lessons, Medical Therapeutic Yoga, Manual Therapy, Individualized Home Program Progression.
